- Exchanges: In 2011, Vermont passed its health insurance exchange bill as an interim step towards implementation of a state single-payer system. Implementation efforts are ongoing, and the state is continuing with policy recommendations to both the legislature and the exchange board.
- Essential Health Benefits: The Department of Vermont Health Access recommended one of the state’s small group products as Vermont’s essential health benefits benchmark at an August meeting of the Green Mountain Care Board. The Green Mountain Care Board will make a final decision on the benchmark plan before the September deadline.
- Medicaid Expansion: Governor Peter Shumlin said that Vermont’s Medicaid program already meets the Medicaid expansion requirements.
- Medicare Advantage Enrollment: Vermont currently has 8,318 seniors and people with disabilities enrolled in Medicare Advantage, or about 7% of all Medicare beneficiaries.
