  • Exchanges: North Carolina has begun preliminary planning efforts for its state run insurance exchange. So far, no exchange-related legislation has passed either chamber of the legislature.
  • Essential Health Benefits: The North Carolina Department of Insurance has begun studying EHB benchmark plans, and a report was issued in May analyzing the 10 potential options. No recommendation has been made.
  • Medicaid Expansion: Governor Pat McCrory announced on February that North Carolina will not be expanding Medicaid.
  • Medicare Advantage Enrollment: North Carolina currently has 329,691 seniors and people with disabilities enrolled in Medicare Advantage, or about 21% of all Medicare beneficiaries.
