  • Exchanges: The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange was formally established in June 2011. Ten board members were appointed in September 2011, and implementation efforts are ongoing. The board approved a $72 million contract in August for exchange business operations and enrollment services. The contract will run through 2016 and includes project management, service center operation, oversight, and compliance.
  • Essential Health Benefits: The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange recommended selecting a small employer HMO plan as the state’s EHB benchmark.
  • Medicaid Expansion: Governor Sandoval announced in December that the state will be expanding Medicaid.
  • Medicare Advantage Enrollment: Nevada currently has 127,053 seniors and people with disabilities enrolled in Medicare Advantage, or about 33% of all Medicare beneficiaries.
