Indiana

  • Exchanges: Governor Mitch Daniels issued Executive Order 11-01 to establish the Indiana Insurance Market, a nonprofit entity acting as Indiana’s state-based health insurance exchange. However, Governor Daniels decided not to proceed with the exchange and in July said that he will consult with his potential successors before determining whether to continue with exchange efforts. Governor Daniels is not eligible for reelection in 2012 because of term limits.
  • Medicaid Expansion: Governor Mike Pence has not announced whether the state will be participating in the Medicaid expansion.
  • Medicare Advantage Enrollment: Indiana currently has 226,611 seniors and people with disabilities enrolled in Medicare Advantage, or about 21% of all Medicare beneficiaries.
