  • Exchanges: The Colorado Health Benefit Exchange was established in June 2011 (S.B. 200). The non-profit, public organization operates independently of the state government but has a 10-member committee of state legislators known as the Legislative Implementation Review Committee. Colorado’s exchange selects eligible plans to participate and provides online education and purchasing tools.
  • Essential Health Benefits: Colorado’s Exchange and Division of Insurance are conducting studies to recommend a benchmark plan. The DOI is conducting public outreach in order to gauge stakeholder input.
  • Medicaid Expansion: Governor John Hickenlooper announced in January that Colorado will be participating in the Medicaid expansion.
  • Medicare Advantage Enrollment: Colorado currently has 218,894 seniors and people with disabilities enrolled in Medicare Advantage, or about 32% of all Medicare beneficiaries.
