ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT AHIP COST REPORT

Ø AHIP sent this letter to Senators Reid, Baucus, and Harkin this week highlighting our industry’s strong commitment to comprehensive health care reform and providing additional information about the release of the new cost report.

Ø At a HELP committee hearing yesterday, AHIP President and CEO Karen Ignagni addressed the release of the cost report (begins at 87:37).

Ø Here is a technical question and answer document on the PricewaterhouseCoopers’ cost report. This document provides important background information and answers about the assumptions and methodology used in determining the impacts of four provisions from the Senate Finance Committee proposal on costs and premiums.

Ø A report released this week from Oliver Wyman is consistent with the findings from the AHIP cost report showing that current proposals will increase health care costs for families and employers. Check out this overview and the full report.

Ø The report released this week is entirely consistent with what AHIP has been saying for several weeks about the impact current proposals will have on the affordability of health care coverage.
