POLL VAULT redux: Strong Support for a Personal Coverage Requirement

In November 2008, health plans released a series of health insurance reforms. One of these reforms was guaranteeing coverage for everyone regardless of a pre-existing condition coupled with a personal coverage requirement to get everybody covered.

Three recent polls have shown strong support for a personal coverage requirement. Check out the polls below:

A July 2009 Pew Research poll shows that “65% [of the public] favor requiring that all Americans have health insurance with the government providing financial help for those who can’t afford it.” Click here for the full results of the poll.

A June 2009 NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showed that 62% of Americans support requiring everyone to have coverage, and financial assistance for people with low and moderate incomes. Click here for the full results of the poll.

A July 2009 Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that 68% of Americans support “Requiring all Americans to have health insurance, either from their employer or from another source, with financial help for those who can’t afford it.” Click here for the full results of the poll.
